This page shows the quality of the bathing water for the latest sample. We sample the water at all designated bathing sites approximately once a week during the bathing season (May to September). We compare water quality results against the standards in the European Bathing Water Directive. Click on 'View data' to see the weekly sample results during the bathing season.

How we measure bathing water quality? We take water samples from 486 coastal areas and 9 inland bathing water areas in England and Wales. We aim to make sure public health is protected and we target areas that need improvement.
